Criticism and criticism
My friend Jayvee Fernandez seems to be in a bit of maelstorm recently. For all of those in the know this might be old news but it all started out with this post and subsequently lead to this post. And so far both posts have been getting several comments so much so that the first one has already reached the top five posts on Jayvee’s blog. And it has also prompted a response from Gibbs Cadiz. I still have to see what Janette Toral’s take on this is but I am eagerly awaiting for it.
The advantage of being a Monday Morning Quarterback is that most of the time one has almost perfect vision. In this regard, I think Jayvee’s latter post about the matter was better than the first one because: (i) It allows for no speculation and (ii) It allows the user to answer or clarify things. I understand though that Jayvee’s intention of not naming names or specific might appeal to a round-about way of telling things but in this instance it has produced the opposite effect.
This is Jayvee and anyone who knows him knows that he talks and writes in a round-about way.
Ultimately any idea or writing you post on the net is fair target for comments and opinions. One might agree with it or one might differ from it but its fair game. And the test of your opinion is if it survives the test of scrutiny both internal and external.
A few things though that surfaced when I read the comments: (i) Jayvee moderates his comments (ii) The Blogging Mafia.
As fas as I know he moderates only the first comments only. One way to screen against those commenters who sell viagra and credit line. He also stopped accepting comments on his first post.
Blogging Mafia - As far as I know there was no concentrated effort to hit on Janette: no exchange of emails, no text and no communication whatsover. It just so happened that the post was published and the regular readers of the blog commented. If that is the mafia then each of us would have our own mafia.
Again as I said in the first sentence I consider Jayvee a friend. And in his desire to be round-about might not be wise but that is the way he talks and writes. And one might agree or disagree with his ideas (and it is fair game). There are several ways and styles to do it. I prefer to tackle it issue wise.

I think this is the most level-headed post or comment I’ve seen about Jayvee’s issue. Well done.
