Even samurais have teddy bears and even the teddy bears get drunk
It is Friday and got tagged by Gail to do a meme called six weird things about me. The rule of this particular meme is as follows: (i) Each player of this games starts with 6 weird things about you (me). (ii)People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rule clearly. (iii) In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Seems simple enough. The hard thing about this meme is find something weird about oneself. The bar of weirdness has been raised in our contemporary society, possibly due to market factors and modern social mores. One is not weird merely unconventional or unique. Still this should be a fun meme. Lets make it interesting by taking it from the first person singular to the third person singular pronoun. So lets begin.
Here are the six weird things about Juned:
The first weird thing:
Juned likes to play Nintendo hand held games. To be more precise he likes playing turn-based Nintendo games. And to be even more precise Mr Sonido like playing Advance Wars and Pokemon at his age. It is more than likely that Juned has played nearly all Pokemon games. At present he is playing the Pearl Edition. There are times that Juned actually played from late sunset to sunrise.Mr Sonido does not know if that is weird or its just some of his friends think its weird. Especially at his age. Still 10.9 million users of Nintendo cannot be wrong. I am not in bad company. Just read the post(Sony gets a Pokemon in the Eye)), here is its trackback url at the Financial Times Tech Blog.
To be frank about it, he never did outgrow my fascination with the things of his youth. Aside from the Pokemon and Nintendo thing, Juned still likes reading comics, watching cartoons, playing board games, and just walking around. It seems to complement the other past times that have been picked up through the years. But then what is the sense of growing old and becoming petrified? Plus you learn a lot from these things contrary to what some people say.
Juned’s nephews seem to have taken a liking to Pokemon games as well. Sometimes even he gets lost when they begin speaking Pokemonese. Too many new pokemons. At least he can get the gist of what they are saying. His sisters and parents would always give a blank stare whenever the his nephews would start rambling about Pokemon. Juned had to explain what a Pokemon was and was not, if you get what I mean.
The second weird thing:
Juned is a fashion marsupial: About him or buckled around him is a pouch bag ( which is known is also known as a belt pack, hip pack, fanny pack, and a bum bag). The pouch bag keeps a lot of stuff in it from tools, toys, and things. It is a habit he picked up from his college days and field work. Juned is stuck with the pouch bag. Unfortunately, Juned seems to have infected my nephews they seem to be taking to wearing pouch bags as well: Last Christmas, one of his nephews asked for a pouch bag during Christmas.
The third weird thing:
Juned sleeps with books, literally. Save for the wall with the window, the door, and the one where his bed backs into the walls of the room is full of books. Sometimes it feels like sleeping in a library. Even his bed has two rows of books. The habit of reading was stamped into us early on. Although, The habit of reading is something that must not only be learned but also be appreciated. If you have no interest in it the habit will not grow.Take for example his brother, whose interests were more to sports than books, that room is full of sports stuff. To each his own.
The fourth weird thing:
Juned always carry more than one camera. Juned has become a shutterbug. More of snapshots than photos. Juned like to find things of interest (At least to him): Its the case of finding something interesting and saying to oneself one must record it for posterity. A smile from a person’s face, the interactions in a busy street, people praying in church, the play of light against structure, and in general things that happen.
The fifth weird thing:
Nearly every nook and cranny in Juned’s house has an aquarium. An interest that came to being because of the following: A Bachelor of Science Degree in Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture; An interest in keeping aquarium fishes and maintaining a microcosm; A stint in the tropical fish export industry: Another stint in the local aquarium and tropical fish industry; Meeting fellow aquarium hobbyists and aquarists; An utter disdain for the Aquarium Channel; and the attraction of the interesting lives of fishes, invertebrates and other inhabitants of the water world.
Juned is crazy. He is a fish - nut: A piscinarii.
The sixth weird thing:
Juned has a predilection for old films, tv shows and even radio dramas. On the whole his taste in the popular art form and entertainment is catholic or universal. For example in music, whether its the Bizet’s Habanera or Yoyoy Villame’s Bustikik or Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik or My Chemical Romance’s Black Parade, if he likes it he likes it. It does not matter what form it is if it sound good its good. Same with TV shows, films and other art forms. All of us have favorites and within those favorites there are those we are really interested in. Then there is those that one really likes - a favorite among the favorite. Those that he can watch again and again. For Juned it has be those old shows and films like - (iKolchak: The Night Stalker; Yes Minister; Black Adder; the alleged CIA funded cartoon adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm; Grand Illusion; Kind Hearts and Coronets; Lady Killers; Dolphy’s Jack en Jill; The Abominable Dr Phibes; and those old Radio Dramas like The War of the Worlds. He spend so much time downloading the stuff (Those in the public domain) and sometimes acquiring a copy.
And those are the six weird things about Juned.
It was fun. Now to tag six + 1. Hmmm …
