How I will remember Iblog3
An event, an encounter, a cross-road where people meet, always leave an impression that is burned in one’s memory. It might be pictures, words, information, and knowledge but its there. For better and rarely for the worse its there.
First, Iblog 3 the granddaddy of Pinoy bloggers’ eb is still worth going to. Thanks to Janette Toral, Atty JJ Disini, the UP Internet Society Program and last but not the least the volunteers.
Second, Its nice to hold during the summer. A water cooler and maybe coffee/tea for the next iblog would be nice - given the nature of the talk and panel discussions.
Third, Interesting conversations with fellow bloggers: Chatting with DJB about politics, history, and Betta splendens; Conversing with Punzi about politics, video games, and church music; Talking to Manolo about tropical fish and his nice use of really good editorial cartoons - vintage Filipino Editorial Cartoons; Conversations about games, Firefly and Serenity; Twittering along with Noemi and Sonnie; Listening on the exchanges between Pierre aka Jester and Chris; Comic, cartooning, manga, anime chat with Jonas. shooting the breeze with Aileen, Aj, Shari, Arbet, Eugene, Jeff, Jun, Jomar,Ade, Sexy Mom, Ellen, Rico, and a host of others. Markku and Sasha taking snaps. Watching, enjoying, and learning from the talk of Dean, Lauren, Chris, Anton, Abe, Jonas, Manolo, Marc, Marcelle, Gail ( and the never-ending issue about the “incentive post” for Marc, J. Angelo,Jayvee, the Nostril, and all the other speakers.
Fourth, No one has beaten the Jester-In-Exile’s hat as the most effective blogging device.
Fifth, Bloggers and journalists are siblings and countrymen in the practice of weaving words, images, sound, and sometimes moving images. And both are not impervious to constitutiinal and extra-constitutional remedies.
Sixth, The impact of Leonidas and the 300 Spartans seems to be far reaching, even in the summit where it was being used as an allusion. The attraction of the Romantic and Courageous will always baffle me. All well and good, but, I prefer to be an Athenian during the Battle of Salamis. Each to his own I guess.
Seventh,Usually, when one meets a person face-to-face the first impression one gets is a physical trait or demeanor. On-line especially in the blogosphere it is the individual’s persona his or her thoughts and way of speaking (writing) that one notices. And through successive banter and further posts one can get to learn the person through point of views and chronicles penned - in a way a soul laid bare. And if by chance you like what you read then it is a pleasure to meet the individual in person. And activities like Iblog, the Philippine Blog Awards, the Blog Parteeh, and other off-line activities serves this purpose well.

Out there in Chicken Mafia, a picture was posted - a better jester hat that I think Jester has been trying to find ever since the world began.

Our common interest is to blogging is intertwined with our individual advocacies, even though there are issues and differences, we share the same space in the web.
Thank you for your active contribution on the development of the Phil. Blogosphere, our small ways build not only the foundation, but also the structure.

Jester, pecuniary? wealth. Wealth and a few other things is not bad
PJ, Xie xie.
Sonnie, Thanks. Important thing is there is talk.
Nel, nice post.
Janette, Summer is a nice time to hold Iblog. It is the heat index = high temp and relative temp that is the rain that pours on the bloggers’ parade. This year the heat was quite taxing. Still it did not prevent another wonderful event from happening.

Said this on April 19th, 2007 at 12:11am:What’s really depressing about the Spartans is that for all their courage and proficiency, they simply couldn’t adapt to changing times. Once somebody figured a way to exploit their weaknesses, it was downhill slide.

Said this on April 19th, 2007 at 5:43am:Rico, Philip of Macedonia just decided to ignore them. In later years they became tourist destinations for the Romans. Its the peril of relying or believing too much on the Romantic heroism, especially if it was crafted for propaganda or written by the victors.

Said this on April 20th, 2007 at 10:47pm:Rico, Several factors of course contributed to their decline and Philip was but one. Economy and politics contributed to their decline. One scholar once described them as the Klingons of the Greek City-States.
Shari, Yes .. seventh is the best.
