Around the UP Academic Oval
Aside from the sunken garden the nice thing about walking the UP Academic Oval is walking amidst the trees. One of my favorites is when one sees the Fire Trees in full bloom. It would be interesting to know how many people actually walk around this matrix of trees. Living and working in the concrete jungle, further complicated by living around malls and commercial centers a regular retreat to the assemblage of trees is a must. Then again there are advantages to living in the city and there are disadvantages - still its nice to know that one can have remedies. I cannot measure the number of times I have taken walks along this particular path. Only a few areas in Metro Manila rival the UP Academic Oval in terms of therapeutic rambling. One of them would actually be the millionaire’s enclave of Forbes Park - where native (?) chipmunks roam. And another would be Paco Park/Cemetery.
