Remember, remember the 21st of September

Posted in Blogging & Technology by juned on the July 31st, 2008

An event of interest for bloggers here in the Philippines more info here:

Remember, remember the 21st of September,
When Bloggers, vloggers and even podcasters meet-up

I know of no reason
Why the Pinoy Blog Award Season
Should ever be forgot

Remember, remember the 21st of September
Where land meets water
When the Sun descends to meet the Sea
At Esplanade One
Beside Manila Bay
Beside the Sea
As the Sun sets

I know of no reason
Why the Pinoy Blog Award Season
Should ever be forgot.

The Sun and the Northwind: The Last Slot

Posted in Blogging & Technology by juned on the July 30th, 2008

This is one from Aesop. At one point in time the Sun and the Northwind had a debate on how was the more influential/stronger between the two. They talked and talked and talked for days until they noticed a man traveling the road.

An idea came forth like Athena from Zeus’ forehead. Both forces of nature decided to have a contest.

Who are whatsover was able to make the man move his clothes would win the contest.

The Northwind tried it at first. Drawing upon his powers he left forth all types of forces he could muster. The leaves were plucked away from trees. There were even some trees that fell.

But the man kep his clothes on. No matter what.

It was the Sun’s turn.

The Sun simply smiled and did what he did naturally best SHINE.

Gradually and eventually the temperature rose and the heat became unbearable. And soon enough the man took of his clothes.

The Sun won the contest.

Normally, There moral of the story would be pointed out. This is the popular practice. Although it has to be pointed out that there are a few things that can be learned from this first and foremost its good to choose the contest you are joining. The other thing is strengh or even loudness is a sure thing of success nor of influence.

Influence can be sublime as writing. And not all blog writing could be like the Northwind. Being the Sun can be effective as well.

Anyway this long intro leads me to my last nomination for the top ten emerging influential blog for 2008. And it is the (i) opinion blog New Philippine Revolution and (ii)my runner-up in case of exclusion technicalities is Militant Indifference.

And this is because both are well written and adds to the kaleidoscope of ideas we call the blogging community.

As per requested the list is as follows:

1. VisitSagada.com
2. YouGotTech
3. FilipinoVoices
4. Food Blog for Hungry Bachelors
5. Pass the Sauce
6. Fritzified.com
7. SamJuan: This tells it all:

This is interesting: Pamper World

Posted in Politics and Culture by juned on the July 25th, 2008

Someone told me before that one of the most effective ways of learning is by enjoying it. In other words it must be FUN.

Last weekend, I got a text from Buggie via text or as the techies would like to call it sms. The message was this:

Buggie : Can I invite you to an event this saturday and sunday ? Its a pamper world of babies event - Be A Baby for a Day :) :) :)

A few days later, The invite to the launch of Pamper World came in the guise of an oversize baby bottle. Bigger than soda bottle I have ever seen. It was almost as big as my Dad’s old whiskey bottle.

A foreshadowing of things to come. Anyway more foreshadowing:

the WORLD looks different when you are 2 feet tall

Given my Liliputian nature, I know the feeling.

This promises to be fun. But not only fun it also promises to teach us Adults on how a child would perceive the world. And in fact it was designed to be like that.

Here is the official word from Pamper World:

Pampers World is a global event that aims to help parents experience the stages of development through their baby?s eyes. Pampers World has toured other countries (notably the United Kingdom, Greece, Sweden, and Indonesia among others) and is now in the Philippines.

You can experience the world of a baby through a baby?s eyes via a tour through the 3 stages of development: New Baby, Active Baby, and Easy Ups. Each stage will feature rooms where consumers can move about and explore the world like a baby. On top of that, there will be a couple of shows throughout the day where you can learn and be entertained about the 3 stages of development via guest celebrities and pediatricians. Finally, you can also purchase Pampers Stages at discounted prices. Through innovative programs, events and partnerships with other organizations, the PPI aims to make use of these renowned professionals to provide parents with the latest in child-care information and research to help them become the best parents they can be.

Here is the schedule -
