Years ago I chanced upon this book in one those antique bookstore. Often the books they sell there can be quite expensive. Then again there are books that are a bargain - because of their price and their content. This is one of those books, printed in 1963 and written by Rosendo Ignacio. The title of the book is Mga Kinahismanang salitang Tagalog (Tagalog Idioms - Modismos Tagalos). It arrangged from a to zed like a dictionary and contains the Tagalog, English and Spanish definitions and /or translations of the idioms.

Just a set of snaps taken through the years. It is amazing how much photographs both film and digital that can be accumulated through the years. Several photo collections of rediscovered film have been discovered through the years. There was one photographer during the turn of the century who only took photos of street courtesans. His collection was only recovered several years after his death. And there were pictures taken and stored that recorded daily life and people of its time. It too lay undiscovered and unviewed for years. Then there is the photographer whose aim was to record for posterity all types of people in his country, twice and thrice his collection was destroyed by the fires of war, yet he still continued.

Dinner and Conversation

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to be invited to a dinner celebrating Noemi’s birthday at their new house. Aside from the gustatory pleasure that night one of the remarkable and enjoyable thing was the talk, the discussion, the conversation with Lauren, Jayvee,Abe, Gail, Marc,Sasha, Aileen, Rico, Marc and Sharms. I still remember the dinner parties at our house. They were fun and less costly. But, now it seems to be a thing of the past.
