Being the constant student

Posted in Something to share, Fun by juned on the April 18th, 2008

I remember seeing an old caricature done by Goya of an old man hobbling around. The old man had a beard that nearly reached the floor. And he was stooped over and was walking with the aid of a cane. And above him was a thought balloon that said I am still learning. It is nice to be student. The constant student. The student of life.

For all those wishing to learn a craft or two. The following blog-directory might be of interest.

I got this one of my favorite blogs the LibrarianInBlack. And she mentioned in her post, Self Made Scholar. The Self Made Scholar is a blog and directory that leads to several Free Online Classes.

The courses is a collection audio, video, email and text based on-line courses deemed best Self Made Scholar.

It is a great site. I like it because its one of those blogs that brings us closer to those resources on the Internet that we can use.

The on-line are grouped by format and by subject. I prefer to search by subject. And each directory item contain the following items:

  • Name of Course
  • A one to five sentence description of the course
  • Format
  • Link

  • Check out their courses:

    Writing
    Hobbies
    Cooking
    Animals
    Books

The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe

Nemo me impune lacessit - No one strikes me with impunity

One of my favorite stories written by Edgar Allan Poe. The story has been retold several times in film and radio. Roger Corman adapted the story into one a film starring Vincent Price and Peter Lorre. Lets listen in as Fortunato and Montresor take a journey of wine and revenge into the depths of a thriller in order to get to the Amontillado. Reading courtesy of LibriVox and is in the public domain
