A Delicate Balancing Act: Cybercrime and Digital Rights

Cybercrime, evokes image of dark deeds and ill-intent. Cyber deathdealers descending upon the placid dystopian world of cyberspace. Cybercrime is theft and harm: Cybercrime is identity & financial theft and harm ones person, family and reputation. This is cybercrime and our country: our democracy has been grappling with it for some. Opposing sides and heterogenous opinions are at loggerheads on what is the “best approach”. The crux of the matter is to equally balance the application of digital rights – which can be listed as the rights to peacefully exist both in person and reputation; the rights to due process, and the right to express oneself.
